Janie Ash, our Managing Director and Mecca Ibrahim, our Marketing Director are the co-founders in this pioneering new initiative, ‘Women in the Food Industry’, which is providing a platform for thought leadership and relationship building for women working in Britain’s food, drink and hospitality industry ahead of International Women’s Day 2019.
The two women speak with one voice; “Our shared mantra is we believe none of us is stronger than all of us and together, anything is possible. We are a new kind of creative and marketing partnership made up of the best women we know and brought together by friendship and a love of food. We’re passionate about the narrative powers of food. We champion all women in the food industry and our heartfelt desire is to build a nurturing community and encourage women to help women.”
The inaugural ‘Women in the Food Industry’ events will bring together a diverse mix of female food and drink leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss the issues impacting women working in food-related careers in United Kingdom. A series of events, in London and Edinburgh took place in the run up to International Women’s Day on 8th March with further events planned for later in the year, specifically in Lancashire and the North West.
Women in the Food Industry’ is supported by major female influencers in the food world, including Asma Khan, first British chef on Netflix’s award-winning Chef’s Table, Michelin starred chef Frances Atkins, MasterChef winner, Jane Devonshire, Executive Chef of the Allbright Collective, Roux Scholarship Finalist and Great British Menu Entrant, Sabrina Gidda and Great British Menu judge and Saturday Kitchen host, Andi Oliver.
